The avocado is colloquially known as the Alligator Pear, reflecting its shape and the leather-like appearance of its skin. Avocado is derived from the Aztec word “ahuacatl”. Avocados are the fruit from Persea americana, a tall evergreen tree that can grow up to 65 feet in height. Avocados vary in weight from 8 ounces to 3 pounds depending upon the variety.
You might be thinking, avocado’s and burgers don’t generally go together… well, I’m here to tell you that it is awesome! I’ve kind of been on an avocado kick lately… just about everywhere I go where I can get avocado added to my meal… i’m all over it! But let me tell you, they are not giving that stuff away. Generally it costs anywhere from a $1 to $1.80 to get a dollop of the stuff added to your meal. Jason’s Deli has a the California Club sandwich and it comes on the sandwich, you can have it added to your burrito at Chipoltle, or your sandwich at Subway and many more places are adding it to the menu. Apparently avocado is good for you too, so you can’t go wrong adding avocado to one of the best foods on the planet, a burger!
